What counts as a wall piece?
- A full upright concrete wall panel counts as a wall piece.
- A displayed section, partial panel, or substantial remnant also counts as a wall piece when Wikipedia lists it as a segment or section.
- A smaller fragment counts as a wall piece when Wikipedia uses that wording or when the listing clearly describes a displayed fragment.
- Counts are location-level counts where possible. If Wikipedia says a location has four sections, this project records four pieces for that location.
- If Wikipedia only says that a piece, segment, section, or fragment exists and does not give a number, this project records one piece and marks the count as default or unspecified.

Important counting limits
- The source page says it is a dynamic list and may be incomplete.
- The source page also says wall pieces are sometimes moved, so a listed location can become outdated.
- The map is a structured visualization of the Wikipedia list, not an official registry.
- The project does not count every surviving piece of the Berlin Wall in Berlin. It follows the locations listed on the Wikipedia page used as the source.
